Play Play by Kylie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 fun stars!

Mal was a standout in the first book. So although the first book didn’t quite meet my expectations, I was excited for Play because of Mal.

At first, I wasn’t quite sure about how Mal and Anne got together and honestly, I wasn’t quite sure if Mal was right in the head or not. But as I read on, I totally got into the groove of the story and ended up laughing hysterically at both Mal and Anne.

Mal is still crazy but crazy in a good way. I actually liked how fleshed out his character was. Same with Anne, who I wasn’t quite sure of at first. But just like Mal, she grew on me and I enjoyed her deadpan humor, which is a perfect foil for Mal’s more boisterous one. I thought they were perfect together.

The humor, the characters, the straightforward low-angst plot made this book a wonderful read for me. It was exactly the type of book I needed at the right moment.

Recommended? Hell, yes!!
