Another Aly Martinez penned series to obsess over!
While this might not be my favorite Aly Martinez book but it still has everything I love about her writing and her characters. And this is just the first book. I’m positively giddy at the thought of getting more.
Singe is the story of Jude and Rhion. They met during a tragic moment of Rhion’s life. Because of tha circumstance, Jude carried with a lot guilt. Guilt that touched every single area of his life. Rhion wasn’t spared though. She’s been fighting her own demons both real and imagined because of that night.
This book is about them coming to terms with what happened. It’s forgiveness. It’s about letting go of the guilt and embracing redemption.
Jude is very alpha with a protective streak a mile wide. He’s the kind of guy who would do anything to keep those close to him safe. Despite being near strangers bound only by that single night of tragedy, Rhion and Jude have bond. A very strong one that never wavered despite their long distance from each other.
I was a bit apprehensive about their connection and chemistry at first. My mind knows as I was reading this that yes these two are connected. But there are times when viscerally I was disconnected with the story and struggled with their connection. I don’t know if it’s because I wasn’t a huge fan of Rhion or what but that part I struggled with.
Despite that, there is a lot of positive in this book. And that lot is mostly due to the stable of gorgeous protective alphas of the Guardians. This series is going to be an alpha-fest, and Singe is just the prelude. For that reason alone, I would definitely recommend this book!
