Review: The Night We Met by Tara Taylor Quinn

What is it about? I wasn’t supposed to love Nate Grady, let alone marry him. But we found a love that triumphed over all adversity…just like Jane Eyre, my very favorite heroine. I was young, bookish, naive…on the verge of entering the convent – and then I met him…. The day I abandoned my old life, the day I agreed to marry him, now seems an eternity ago. But despite everyone’s objections, I fell for Nate. An older, previously married man. My first and only love. My husband. When I looked into Nate’s eyes on our wedding day, the rest of the world vanished. If I was crazy for doing this, I prayed the craziness would last forever…. Tara Taylor Quinn is a new-to-me author. This is my first book from her (I’m currently reading another one) and it was a real doozy. Life started the night we met. Everything […]

ARC Review: Falling Away (Fall Away #3) by Penelope Douglas

About Falling Away Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid. K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away…. K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door. Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. […]

ARC Review: Playing by the Greek’s Rules & The Delucca’s Marriage
Contract

I have a soft spot for Harlequin Presents. They got me started on my romance reading journey. Well, specifically, it was my aunt’s secret stash of HPs that got me started on reading romances back when I was 12 years old. I have since moved on and read other types of books in the genre but from time to time, I still go out of my way and read a couple of HP books. For this month, I’ve read two. The first book is by Abby Green called the Delucca’s Marriage Contract. It is the tenth book off of their Chatsfield Series. The second book is from Sarah Morgan, who is one of my fave HP authors. It’s entitled Playing by the Greek’s Rule, and it’s a prequel to her Puffin Island Series. Anyway, here’s my review for the Delucca Marriage Contract and Playing by the Greek’s Rule. Delucca’s Marriage […]

Review: The Pact by Karina Halle

Review: The Pact by Karina Halle

The Pact was my last book for 2014. It was marketed or tagged as a standalone, friends-to-lovers romance. Here’s the thing: I love the friends-to-lovers trope. It’s my catnip. No lie. Just look at my Goodreads read shelf and you’ll know how much I love them. Three of my favorite books last year involved characters who were friends first before becoming lovers. I usually devour them and they always — well, almost always work for me. It’s fairly hard for me to dislike a book with this trope because no matter how silly or improbable the situations are, I’d always end up liking them. In other words, I don’t think I could ever dislike a book with this trope. It’s almost impossible. I was wrong. The Pact just proved it. So what’s this book about? It all started with a pinky swear… Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a […]

Racy Books We’re Reading This Year

Before anything else, let me just say happy new year to everyone! 2014 has been a great year for books, and 2015 promises to be even better. Because of that, I’ve compiled a list of books that are coming out this year that we so badly want to read. This isn’t a general list, so you might not see every title releasing this year. What this list includes are books are either part of a series that I loved and looking forward to finishing; books from fave or auto-buy authors, and books about a character that I liked from a previous book or series. So here is my list. Some of the books here might already be on your list also, some may not. For those that are not, I’ve linked them to Goodreads so you can read the blurb and consider adding them on your TBR pile. 1.) Falling Away […]

My Top Reads for 2014

My Top Reads for 2014

Here it is! The best and the brightest books for 2014 — according to me, of course. This year alone, I’ve read about 352 books–356!! Out of that 356, there were a handful that were truly unforgettable to me. Take note: Not all of the books I’m going to list here are 5 stars. There are a few 4 and 4.5 star reads, but I’ve included them because a), they were unforgettable; b), they pulled out all kinds of emotions from me. Also note that a few favorites might have been published before 2014 but since I’ve read them this year, I think they should have a place on my list. So without further ado, I present my top reads for 2014, in random order. Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young – This book. One of the best friends-to-lovers book out there. Nate and Olivia left quite an impression on […]

Review: Waiting on You by Kristan Higgins (Blue Heron #3)

Kristan Higgins is somewhat of a new-ish author to me, but I enjoyed the fourth book in this series, In Your Dreams, that I immediately listened the audio version of this book on Scribd. Best decision ever! Anyway, before I get carried away, here’s the book synopsis for Waiting on You. Does being nobody’s fool mean that you’re nobody’s love? Colleen O’Rourke is in love with love… just not when it comes to herself. Most nights, she can be found behind the bar at the Manningsport, New York, tavern she owns with her twin brother, doling out romantic advice to the lovelorn, mixing martinis and staying more or less happily single. See, ten years ago, Lucas Campbell, her first love, broke her heart… an experience Colleen doesn’t want to have again, thanks. Since then, she’s been happy with a fling here and there, some elite-level flirting and playing matchmaker to […]

Review: The Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

Now I know why this book is considered a classic in the romance genre. I was utterly charmed by the unconventional love story between Lord Dain and Jessica Trent. Dain was described as somewhat less than an appealing hero, physically with a countenance of a brute. But boy, did he won me over in the end not by changing into someone unrecognizable but just by being him and falling in love with Jessica. Jessica Trent is one of the best heroines I’ve read of all time. Seriously, this girl rocks. She was sassy, smart and beautiful. Most of all, she wasn’t afraid to call Dain on his bullshit. And while she was a virgin, she didn’t act like a nitwit when it comes to getting physically intimate with her brute of a husband. Their banter was hilarious. It was one of the best things of this book. I found myself […]

Teaser, Cover Reveal, and More!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had a great one. Isn’t it amazing how fast the year has gone? I’m kind of bummed but at the same time excited for what 2015 has in store for all of us. In just a few days, we’re going to say goodbye to 2014 and say hello to 2015. So before the year ends, and before I reveal my top reads for 2014, I thought I’m going to post a teaser and cover for two of my highly anticipated books for 2015. Now, I’ve already read the first book, and since this will be release on January 6th, I’m going to hold on to my review for a little while before sharing it you. So I thought, a teaser would suffice. So which book am I talking about, you ask? Well, it’s this book called Falling Away by Penelope Douglas. It’s the third book from […]

Review: Bad Romeo (Starcrossed #1) by Leisa Rayven

More than a month ago, I read a book called Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven. (Don’t ask me how to pronounce her name ’cause I wouldn’t know how.) Anyway, this is Rayven’s debut novel. Prior to my reading it, it had been getting a lot of good buzz from the book blogging community. That got me excited. Plus, the blurb promised a very angsty read. When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time. Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront […]
