Review: Out from Under You (Smart Girls Finish First #1) by Sophie Swift

“Love is an earthquake. It comes when you least expect it. It rips the ground clear away. Right out from under you.” This was me attempting to clean my TBR folder on my Calibre/Kindle last night. And this was me 3 hours later. TBR pile still in shambles but…I was able to not only finish Out From Under You but enjoyed it immensely. I was surprised at how much I liked this book considering: A. I hate when my hero and heroine cheat with each other.B. I hate love triangles. This book have both of those elements in heaps. Like massive, massive cheating with a giant obtuse triangle right in the middle of it. But I loved it. Why? The WRITING. Sophie Swift is a sword-smith. “Every time his lips crushed against hers in the hallway of our high school. Every time I heard the moans of their teenage experimentation […]

Pre-Release Blitz: Deep (Stage Dive #4) by Kylie Scott

I am so excited for Ben and Lizzy’s story to finally drop into our ereaders this coming March 31st! I gotta tell you, it’s a bittersweet feeling overall. I’ve followed this series since the very beginning and while I was ecstatic to finally get Ben and Lizzy’s story, I also felt sad because this means it’s the end of the line for our Stage Dive crew. 🙁 But don’t despair, I heard Kylie Scott has something exciting for us after Stage Dive. Anyway, I’ve read this book a while ago and I loved Ben and Lizzy together. But as much as the bearded wonder had me swooning from page one, it his amour Lizzy who really made the book for me. Kylie writes incredibly strong and fun heroines that I can relate to. If you want to read my review, just go HERE!! Amazon   Barnes & Noble Kobo iBooks Want […]

Review: Soaring (Magdalene #2) by Kristen Ashley

I love Kristen Ashley’s work. Her author voice, while it doesn’t always work for everybody, is very distinct and unique. I’ve read almost of all books — devoured them even. But lately, that seems to be changing. The last book I truly loved from her was Rock Chick Revolution, and despite what people deem as her weakest book in the series, I loved it because of Ally. But her last four books has been a miss for me but something about the blurb for this book grabbed me. I knew I just had to read it, and I am so happy I did because I really enjoyed Amelia and Mickey. Their individual journey, the romance, the way Ms. Ashley navigated the blended family trope was wonderful. American heiress Amelia Hathaway needs to start anew. Her husband cheated on her, and when everything she wanted in life slipped through her fingers, […]

ARC Review: Deep (Stage Dive #4) by Kylie Scott

Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series is probably my favorite rock star series of all time. Every time she releases a book for each member of the band, I can’t help but fall more and more deeper in love with the characters and their journey to HEA. Lizzy Rollins has left her wild teenage years behind. Since then she has been nothing but a good and supportive sister to Anne, and a good student. Then she meets Ben Nicholson, Stage Dive’s laid back bass player, and suddenly, Lizzy found herself in the throes of infatuation with Ben. Despite being warned against pursuing Lizzy, Ben strikes a rapport with her and they started texting each other. Then Lizzy finds out that Ben wasn’t really into her as much as she’s into Ben, which became one of the sources of angst in the book. But the attraction is still there and it all […]

ARC Review: The Torn Up Marriage by Caroline Roberts

Cheating is one of the more difficult tropes to pull off in genre romance. The angst alone would be enough to send a reader into a tizzy. I still can’t say that I love to read about cheating whether it’d be in my romance books or not. But once in a while, when the mood strikes, I’d pick one up and just hope to God the angst won’t kill me. Heh. Thankfully, while this was definitely not an easy read,  Caroline Roberts wrote it in a way that kept me engaged and reading even during the difficult moments of the book. And when I say difficult, it mean pull-my-hair-out-sobbing difficult. I think the title says it all. Kate and Michael have been married for a long time. They have two young daughters. Michael runs his own firm while Kate stays at home. Kate thought their relationship was fine until she […]

Book Tour: Floored (Frenched #3) Melanie Harlow

It’s an exciting day for us here at The Racy Lit Reader. As you know, we’re taking part on Melanie Harlow’s book tour for Floored. And in connection with that, she’ll be giving us insight into her inspiration for writing Floored and this series in general. But before that, here’s my review for Floored. I loved the banter in this book. It was funny and hot at the same time. So read on and enjoy! Guest Post Melanie on her inspiration behind the Frenched series… This series was inspired by several things—my fascination with history, Paris and the idea of embracing the unexpected. With Frenched, I knew I wanted to set a book in Paris but I had to think of a reason to put Mia there alone and kind of miserable. I also knew I wanted her to dislike Lucas at first, but that he would end up showing her […]
