ARC Review: The Hooker and the Hermit by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid

It is no secret how much I love Penny Reid’s writing. As I’ve said before, she writes the kind of stories and characters I want to read. LH Cosway is a new-to-me author. Meaning this is my first book from her. Don’t look at me like that. I plan to rectify that oversight in near future. The Hooker and the Hermit is the first collaboration from these two authors, and I have to say that their writing style complemented each other very well. So it’s no surprise that I enjoyed this one very much.  Annie Catrel is a hermit by choice. She’s very introverted and shy and doesn’t do well in social situations. Despite that, she is brilliant at her job as the social media expert at one of the most prestigious media company in New York. And not only that, she is also the purveyor of a very popular […]

ARC Review: The Trouble with Love (Sex, Love & Stiletto #4) by Lauren
Layne

If there’s anything that exemplify a good second chance at love theme should look no further than my own experience with a Lauren Layne book. This wasn’t my first LL book. The first book I read from her was the book entitled Only With You from her Best Mistake Series. Let’s just say, it didn’t quite register with me to say the least. But when I read the blurb for this book, I knew had to read it. It called out to me. Forgive me for being melodramatic, but yeah, it has everything I want in my romance. And I’m a sucker for a good second chance love story that has impossible odds, and when it comes to impossible odds Alex and Emma’s story is it. I mean, how do you exactly forgive someone who who left you at the altar five years ago on your wedding? The moment I started reading […]

ARC Review: Cartel by Lilli St. Germain

My very first Lili St. Germain book, and definitely not my last. I was a bit nervous starting this book. I don’t consider myself a dark reader especially when it comes to my romance, and I’m picky when it comes to my dark reads. Fortunately, I enjoyed this book very much. I enjoyed the writing and got sucked into the world that Lili built. Although I have to say, this book or this series in general isn’t really considered romance, but there is a very strong romantic elements that runs throughout the whole book that most romance readers like me would appreciate.  So what is it about? How much is a life worth? I grew up in Colombia, the daughter of a wealthy drug lord. I lived a life of extravagance, until one day a drug run went horribly wrong and everything came crashing down around us. I was given […]

ARC Review: The First Kiss (Sweetest Kisses #2) by Grace Burrowes

I hate, HATE not finishing books, which is why I very rarely DNF, but in this case, I just had to. The story wasn’t going anywhere and everything about it just annoyed me. So my first DNF for the year, and I feel so bad because Grace Burrowes writes wonderful historicals. Unfortunately, her contemporary effort failed to impress me. Now onto my review… The First Kiss by Grace Burrowes My rating: DNF Call me defeatist all you want, I just couldn’t continue on anymore. DNF @ 50% I don’t usually rate DNFs but I will make an exception on this case. As per GR rating standard, 2 stars is okay. So 2 stars it is. So before I go on to my review, let say something about the cover first. It’s a lie. Don’t get me wrong. It’s cute and all that but it doesn’t represent the book correctly in my […]

ARC Review: This Heart of Mine by Brenda Novak

So…I’ve talked about this book in my last post, and as you all know I was very excited to read this. I always get nervous about reading a book that I’m very excited about because my excitement tends to get the better of me. And sometimes, I’d end up not liking the book and then I’d feel bummed out about it. Thankfully, this book delivered on everything it promised. There’s romance, and the feels…oh my God, my feels for this book. Simply put, This Heart of Mine captured my attention and my heart from beginning to end. So…5 stars! I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series before but I’ve read enough reviews to know that a lot of readers weren’t happy with some of the sub-plots running through the last two books. I had no expectations regarding this book. I loved the blurb and I thought […]

My reading list for this week…

My reading list for this week…

I think it’s going to be an emotional reading week for me this week. I have two books on my queue that will probably gut me and send me spiraling into a huge book hangover. But guess what? I don’t care. I’m reading three awesome books this week. First up…This Heart of Mine by Brenda Novak. This is number eight out of her popular Whiskey Creek series. I haven’t read any book from this series yet until this one because the blurb just called out to me. I knew it was going to be a heartbreaking story, and only 2% into the book, I was already crying. That doesn’t always happen to me but I love the premise of this book. Phoenix Fuller is back after being in prison for 17 years. Years ago, she was convicted for running over her ex-boyfriend’s new girl friend. She was innocent but no […]

Review: Royal Heirs Required by Cat Schield

Blurb A prince’s surprise twins may turn his royal marriage into something more? Prince Gabriel Alessandro’s top priority is continuing the family line, and he’s found the perfect bride-to-be in Lady Olivia Darcy. While their royal marriage is not based on love, he desires her. Making a baby together will be pure pleasure. Then Gabriel learns he is already a father to twins. Olivia surprises Gabriel with her acceptance of his motherless girls, making him believe their loveless union could blossom into something more. But Olivia’s agreement conceals a devastating secret. In danger of losing the dynasty he so desires, will he risk choosing love over duty? I’ve been reading quite a lot of books with an MOC trope lately, and this book is one of the better ones I’ve read. Prince Gabriel Alessandro is the crown prince of Sherdana. He is expected to marry not for love but for […]

Review: Hero by Samantha Young

Hero has been on my most anticipated list for this year, so I was pleasantly surprised when NAL approved me for an electronic ARC of this book. I simply love Samantha Young’s writing. But first, let’s check out the blurb for Hero. Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren’t his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets,. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him. Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw […]

ARC Review: Playing by the Greek’s Rules & The Delucca’s Marriage
Contract

I have a soft spot for Harlequin Presents. They got me started on my romance reading journey. Well, specifically, it was my aunt’s secret stash of HPs that got me started on reading romances back when I was 12 years old. I have since moved on and read other types of books in the genre but from time to time, I still go out of my way and read a couple of HP books. For this month, I’ve read two. The first book is by Abby Green called the Delucca’s Marriage Contract. It is the tenth book off of their Chatsfield Series. The second book is from Sarah Morgan, who is one of my fave HP authors. It’s entitled Playing by the Greek’s Rule, and it’s a prequel to her Puffin Island Series. Anyway, here’s my review for the Delucca Marriage Contract and Playing by the Greek’s Rule. Delucca’s Marriage […]
