Review: The Proposition by AM Salinger

Review This was a book I picked up based solely on the blurb. One, I love a good friends-to-lovers story, and this promised me one. Two, I enjoy reading m/m. I don’t read a lot of it and I’m picky but then again, the blurb really got me excited. Wade and Rhys are best friends and business partners. Rhys however has been in love with Wade for a long time. The problem he doesn’t know about his feelings nor does he know that Rhys is gay. This was a great set up that got me really excited. Unfortunately, the execution was disappointing. Look, I don’t mind lots of sex in my book but not at the expense of the story. The Proposition had plenty of sexy times, too much in fact that the characters barely interacted with each other outside of the bedroom. There were no character developments or meaningful […]

Review: Hot Asset by Lauren Layne

There are certain things readers expect when reading a Lauren Layne book: a sweet romance between two beautiful, buff hero and heroine set in a New York that’s entirely too clean and too white. I used to devour Lauren Layne’s books. I think she writes smart heroines and dashing heroes, and her stories makes you feel good. But these past few releases have been ho-hum to say the least. It’s set in the same world as before with the same characters just with different names, almost identical jobs. I usually don’t mind it but then the story started to sound the same. Heck, I can’t even remember the names of the hero and heroine in this book without checking the book description. Ian and Lara, by the way but they could have been Jane and Joe from two books prior but I really can’t remember anymore. It’s all a blur. […]

Review: Scoring the Player’s Baby by Naima Simone

Review One of the things that I really like about Naima Simone’s books are her characters. She writes hot-as-sin heroes and gorgeous, accomplished heroines. Scoring the Player’s Baby is no different. It’s a fun, sexy read with a lot of heart. “I’ll give you whatever you ask for. Use me in any way you need to erase those shadows in your eyes.” Ronin Palamo is living a life most men could only dream of. He’s playing for a championship caliber team and he doesn’t lack female companionship. He has it all. But it doesn’t take long for readers to notice that Ronin is hiding a deep wound. One that makes him wary of love and relationship. He doesn’t want it or need it. Or so he thought. His resolve was tested when he meets Kim Matloc. Like Ronin, Kim is hiding wounds of her own. She was cheated on by […]

Review: It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday

Review: It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday

Jenny Holiday is a new to me author that I started reading a couple of months ago. Her new series, Bridesmaids Behaving Badly centers around a group of friends who are bridesmaids in each other’s weddings. I really liked the first book in the series, One and Only, and of the standout characters I enjoyed in the book was Jane’s best friend, Wendy and her unrequited feelings for Jane’s older brother Noah. It Takes Two is their story. And let me tell you: I swooned and cried and smiled all the way because this book was fabulous. “Was this what being in love was like—being in a musical?” It Takes Two has everything I want in my romance: Firstly, it features a stubborn, prickly heroine who is hiding a soft gooey center. Wendy has abandonment issues and a slew of other issues that made me want to give her a […]

Review: Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean

My Review Sarah MacLean’s new Bareknucle Bastards series is off to a strong start with Wicked and the Wallflower. It’s a passionate and intriguing tale of three brothers who’re bound by the secrets of their pasts. “You don’t need lessons in fire. You are an inferno.” Wicked and the Wallflower is about the first brother, Devon, known as Devil to everyone—friends and enemies alike. Devil immediately captures the attention. At the start of the book, his only goal was to uphold a promise from his past but it’s how he goes about achieving those goals that put him immediately in the anti-hero category for me. In spite of that, Sarah MacLean was convincing in her campaign to show her readers that Devil deserves the heroine and a HEA. One of the reasons for this is the heroine Felicity Faircloth. Felicity Faircloth was perfection—the first taste of it Devil had ever […]

Review: Ocean Light (Psy-Changeling Trinity #2) by Nalini Singh

Tautly plotted with dynamic characters and contains of the highest stakes—both romantic and plot-wise—in the series, Ocean Light will engage not just your mind but your heart as well. “Love can alter the fabric of the universe.” This book picks up not far from where the last book ended. Bowen Knight survived his assassination attempt but the chip in his brain is still degenerating and with time running out, his sister agrees to a deal with the Blacksea changeling clan to take Bo deep underwater to undergo an experiment that could save his life or end it. I am so happy that this Nalini continued to build on this universe. We’ve only heard about the BlackSea changelings in previous books but in Ocean Light, they finally take the center stage. And what a fascinating world it is. Ms. Singh’s clever world building continues to fascinate and entranced. The BlackSea changelings […]

Blog Tour: Manaconda by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliot

My name is Hunter Jordan, lead singer of Hammered and no, I didn’t name my cock Manaconda. Rolling Stone did. On the front cover of their damn magazine. I still haven’t lived it down. And now our record label wants to maximize the frenzy. So, I have a brand new PR person–Kennedy McManus. And she’s making me insane. I don’t know whether to ignore her, yell at her, or push her up against the wall and kiss her smart mouth shut.  Buy Links:  Amazon | iBooks Review Despite its inauspicious title, Manaconda proved to be a fun, sexy read. Hunter Jordan is the lead singer for Hammered. Hunter and the band has had success in the past, but one unfortunate cover on Rolling Stone magazine and Hunter suddenly found himself becoming a sensation not because of his music but because of his physical endowments. And I’m not talking about his […]
