Release Blitz: Singe by Aly Martinez

» 6 February, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

Another Aly Martinez penned series to obsess over! While this might not be my favorite Aly Martinez book but it still has everything I love about her writing and her characters. And this is just the first book. I’m positively giddy at the thought of getting more. Singe is the story of Jude and Rhion. They met during a tragic moment of Rhion’s life. Because of tha circumstance, Jude carried with a lot guilt. Guilt that touched every single area of his life. Rhion wasn’t spared though. She’s been fighting her own demons both real and imagined because of that night. This book is about them coming to terms with what happened. It’s forgiveness. It’s about letting go of the guilt and embracing redemption. Jude is very alpha with a protective streak a mile wide. He’s the kind of guy who would do anything to keep those close to him […]

Review: Good Boy (WAGs #1) Elle Kennedy & Sarina Bowen

» 31 January, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

I have a soft spot for heroines who are struggling to find the right career or find the right person or generally just finding somewhere to belong. Jessica Canning grew up in the boisterous Canning clan, who are in Jess’ mind, “a bunch of overachievers.” She’s restless and totally freaked out that she hasn’t found her calling, so to speak, yet. Blake Riley is the exact opposite. Confident and self assured, Blake goes tackles life with gusto. When he meets Jess, he immediately pursues her the only way he knows how: by putting himself on her way and being obnoxious whenever possible. Admittedly, I wasn’t fan of Blake at first. He’s too loud. And too obnoxious. But man oh man, halfway through the book, I started to get all the feels for Blake and was into team Jeblake all the way. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy continues to be a […]

Release Blitz {Spotlight+Excerpt}: Almost a Bride by Jo Watson

Excerpt I knew something was wrong the second I walked up to my front door. Call it intuition. Call it a sixth sense. But I just knew. I blame the shoes. The shoes were undoubtedly the cause of all the problems that day. It was the shoes’ fault that I came home early, and the shoes’ fault I was fired. I suppose I can’t blame the shoes for making me late, though—that was the alarm clock’s fault for rudely deciding not to do its job. And when I finally realized, through the thick haze of sleepiness, that it hadn’t gone off, it was too late. I was already late for work. And when I say work, I mean my brand-new job—job of my dreams—as a fashion assistant at Glamorous Girl mag. I’d just made a total career change, leaving behind a successful job as a stylist in advertising to pursue […]

Blog Tour {Q&A + Review}: Raw Deal by Cherrie Lynn

» 29 January, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

Raw Deal Blog Tour: Author Q&A How would you describe Raw Deal using no more than 140 characters (a la Twitter)? Undeniable passion ignites between a fighter and the heartbroken sister of the man he accidentally killed in the MMA cage. Which scene would you say was the hardest for you to write? Definitely the final fight. Any time I write something action-heavy, which isn’t very often (unless it’s sex, haha), I find it terribly difficult and tedious. “This happened and that happened and so on.” And then to take it and make sure it doesn’t look like I found it difficult and tedious presents its own set of challenges. I can only hope I pulled it off, because I’m a terrible judge of my own work. Where do you get inspiration for the names of your characters? Michael’s and Savannah’s names simply came into my head and felt right. […]

Satisfaction (Lawless #2) by Lexi Blake

» 15 January, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

I was very excited to read this book because Bran was a stood out to me in the first book, and I wanted to read his story so bad. And while I did like and enjoy this one, it wasn’t the same level of enjoyment as the first book. Satisfaction started off slow, which I normally wouldn’t mind as long as it gives me character development and some plot development too. But sometimes, some of the scenes felt like filler to me. And it didn’t really help that this book also had to set up the next book in the series, which by the way I am totally looking forward to because hello, Drew seems like an asshole I would really like. But I digress. This was took too much time setting up other story lines that it forgot about its main couple: Carly and Bran. I liked them but […]

Review: Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen

» 8 January, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

Sarina Bowen has been consistently delivering heartfelt romances with really strong characters, and Hard Hitter is another Bowen book that I enjoyed thoroughly. Patrick O’Doul is one of NHL’s top enforcer for years. But now age is catching up to him. I have to say that Patrick is probably Sarina’s most self-contained hero. I found it very hard to get a feel for what he’s all about. But I love me some grumpy, taciturn heroes so it came as no surprise that I fell hard for his character, especially his backstory. Ari is the same thing. I started the book not quite sure what she’s all about. At first, I thought that Ari was very much like the hero which worried me a bit because I like it a lot more when there’s contrast between the hero’s personality and the heroine. Chemistry, opposites attract and all that jazz. But again, […]

Review: On Broken Wings (Wild Aces #3) by Chanel Cleeton

» 2 January, 2017 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

In all honesty, I was a bit worried about the theme of this book going in. While I do like the dead ex trope, most of the books I’ve read and enjoyed, it was the hero who needed to get over the loss of a wife or a girlfriend or fiancée and not the other way around. I always find it harder to read when the heroine is the one who lost the love of her life because I feel like women feel more deeply and takes a lot more time to get over a relationship especially when that relationship was a loving one. I know it’s prejudiced to think this way but I cannot help it. Hence, my worry that I won’t be able to enjoy it as much.I was wrong.I repeat. I WAS WRONG!This book slayed me. Chanel Cleeton found a way to make this story shine. And […]
