Review: Everything For Her by Alexa Riley

» 31 December, 2016 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

Alexa Riley has been one of my go-to authors whenever I want a quick, sexy, super steamy read. Everything for Her is their first full length novel, and this book had everything long time fans could want in an Alexa Riley book. Possessive hero? Check! Sweet, virginal heroine? Check! Insta love? Check! Super steamy sexy scenes? Double check! That said, I wish I enjoyed the story a lot more. But I found myself a bit concerned by the hero’s stalkerish and possessive nature. There are times when I find myself enjoying a possessive hero. Unfortunately, Oz was just too much. I felt like he crossed the line by taking away a lot of her choices. I mean, sure. He provided her with everything she needs (without her knowing it was him) but a cage is still cage regardless of whether it’s made of gold or wrought iron. There are certain […]

Release Blitz {Spotlight+Review}: Completely Yours by Erin Nicholas

Review   In this delightfully sweet novel, Erin Nicholas explores the age-old question: Can two people who have two completely different interests really make a relationship work? Kiera Connolly is graphic designer who lives a socially quiet life but has a thriving online gaming persona. Zach Ashley is her opposite. Outgoing and popular, Zach is an EMT with a bit of a hero complex. Okay. Not a bit, but a huge hero complex. He’s a fixer. A rescuer. The attraction was instant the moment Zach rescued Kiera from a disastrous event. But Kiera knows well enough that Zach isn’t the kind of guy who would appreciate her quirks or geekiness. And she won’t change even for someone who’s as attractive and sweet as Zach. She’s been there and done that. But as they continue to spend their time together, Zach and Kiera discovers that opposites truly do attract. If only […]

2016 Fave Books List

It’s that time of the year again when we count down that books that made it to our Top Fave List for the year 2016. You might notice that the list this year is considerably smaller, and there are several reasons for that. One, I only read about 124 books this year. Compare that to my previous tally which was around 150 to 250 books from the previous years, it’s no wonder this year’s list only has 6 books in it. Two, 2016 has been a wild and tumultuous year for all of us. I won’t elaborate any further but you guys know what I’m talking about, right? That said, the books that did make it to this list are the books that made our hearts flutter; books that made us laugh and cry. These are the books that remained in our hearts and mind long after we finished reading […]

REVIEW: Someone Like You (Oxford #3) by Lauren Layne

» 13 December, 2016 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

I admit I was a bit worried starting this book. For one, the synopsis for this book changed, and so did the name of the heroine. Not a good sign. Second, I loved Lincoln the moment he was introduced in the Sex, Love & Stiletto series. I have been waiting for his book forever. And you know, expectations has the tendency to mess with your reading mojo. BUT Lauren Layne did Lincoln Mathis’ story justice. Yup. Even the heroine change made sense. Daisy and Lincoln together made sense. Someone Like You packs quite an emotional punch. Something that I’ve never quite experience from Lauren Layne before. On the outside, Lincoln and Daisy couldn’t be more different from each other. Daisy is the epitome of a Southern good girl charm until her marriage fell apart. Lincoln is the picture of a man on the prowl. He’s fun, laid back and has […]

Wild Aces Re-Read Tour: Into the Blue (Wild Aces #2) by Chanel Cleeton

» 10 December, 2016 » Authors » 0 comments

I discovered and fell in love with Chanel Cleeton’s writing when I read her Capital Confessions series. Her stories are a perfect mix of sweet with a touch of angst thrown in. Into the Blue perfectly represents what makes this author work for me. Becca Madison and Eric Jansen are two people who are in love with each other but are being pulled in different directions by their ambition and their quest to find themselves. They went from being in love and engaged to nothing. Eric walked away to become a F-16 fighter pilot while Maddie stayed home to become a successful lawyer. The devastation that it brought almost destroyed Maddie. She was the one who was left behind. While I’m not saying that Eric heart wasn’t affected, at least he had everything to gain in their break-up. It took me a while to warm up to Eric’s character, to […]

Blog Tour {Review + Excerpt} After We Fall by Melanie Harlow

After We Fall by Melanie Harlow Publication Date: November 28th, 2016 Genre: Contemporary Romance “Second chances are not given to make things right, but are given to prove that we could be even better after we fall.” —Unknown Excerpt: “Wow,” she said, shutting the screen door behind her. “That was close. Thank you so much.” “You’re welcome.” I crossed my arms, wishing I’d thought to grab a shirt. “Want to tell me what you were doing out there?” Her cheeks colored. “Um, I was taking a run.” “Up a tree?” She laughed nervously. “No. Well, I didn’t start out in a tree. That happened later.” I cocked my head, unable to resist giving her a hard time. Not so sure of yourself now, are you, Barbie? “Oh yeah?” “Yes. See, I left the cottage I’m renting without using the bathroom by mistake,” she began, twisting her fingers together, “and I […]

Review: Downed (Gridiron #3) by Jen Frederick

» 3 December, 2016 » Authors, Reviews » 0 comments

At the end of Jockblocked, I hated J.R. “Ace Anderson” for what he did to Matty and Lucy. Despite that, I was still interested in reading his story. I was curios as to how Jen Frederick is going to redeem his character. At the end of Jockblocked, we learned that Ace is out of Western and transferring to Southern U. It’s a chance for Ace to start over and prove his naysayers wrong or prove them right. Bryant Johnson is Southern U’s best kept. Liked by everybody, she’s the Renegades’ unofficial PR person/muse/sister/mother…you get the picture. She’s also known as the jerk whisperer, and her next project is none other than the Renegades new quarterback, Ace Anderson. I wasn’t quite sure at first about Bryant. She seems too good to be true. But then I realize she’s as every bit as stubborn as Ace, if not more, and is not […]

Release Blitz {Review}: After We Fall by Melanie Harlow

This has got to be my favorite Melanie Harlow book to date! After We Fall is an emotionally charged, heart-stopping romance between a broken man who feels his chance at love has passed and a woman determined to prove him wrong. After a humiliating experience with her ex at a charity event, Margot is need of a break. An out-of-town client of their PR firm provided Margot a chance to get away for awhile. The job was simple: help a family owned farm get their branding and web presence off the ground and help boost their profit. But things start to get complicated fast when Margot meets one of the owners, Jack Valintini. Jack is the grumpy, hot-as-hell brother who is convinced that this new endeavor is a waste of time and money. He’s not that all impressed with Margot either even though he finds himself thinking more and more […]

Review: Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding by Jessica Clare

Review: Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding by Jessica Clare

Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding might be short on page count but it’s not short on the squishy, gooey, feels. After months of preparation, including a postponement, hookups and unexpected pregnancies, Gretchen and Hunter are finally, FINALLY tying the knot. But alas, everything seems to be falling apart on Gretchen: part of the mansion, where the wedding is supposed to be held, is flooded in, she fired another baker, and Hunter is keeping something from her. On top of that, her recovering drug addict sister Daphne wants to reconnect with her. I adored every second of this book. It’s a novella but doesn’t read like one. Aside from Gretchen and Hunter’s wedding story, there’s also a sweet, redemptive story about Daphne. Remember her? Fans of the series sort of have a hate-hate relationship with her and I was curious whether or not Jessica Clare would give her a book […]

Excerpt Reveal: After We Fall by Melanie Harlow

After We Fall by Melanie Harlow Publication Date: November 28th, 2016 Genre: Contemporary Romance Synopsis: Jack Valentini isn’t my type. Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave. Jack might be gorgeous, but he’s also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a “rich city girl” like me, and he isn’t afraid to say so. But I’ve got a PR job to do for his family’s farm, so he’s stuck with me for ten days, and I’m stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles. His huge, hard muscles. Pretty soon there’s a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I’ve never done anything so out of character—but it feels too good to stop. And the […]
